Laila Rana is a Senior Associate at PGS Law, specializing in family law and child protection matters. She has appeared before the Provincial Court of British Columbia and the Supreme Court of British Columbia with trial experience in each. Laila assists clients with parenting disputes, protection issues, support, divorce and the division of family property and debt. She also serves as Children's Counsel through the Society for Children and Youth of BC providing independent representation to children during family litigation. Laila is known to provide thoughtful, strategic and compassionate representation to her clients.

Laila brings a strong commitment to access to justice and advocacy with an intersectional lens. She understands that legal advocacy requires a thorough consideration of how her client may be impacted by gender inequality, race, poverty and trauma. Passionate about children’s rights, she maintains a child-centered focus throughout her practice.

Before joining PGS Law, Laila contributed to several social justice organizations, including the Women’s Legal Education and Action Fund (LEAF) and Pivot Legal Society. She was a founding member and Director on the Board of the South Asian Legal Clinic of British Columbia and previously served as a Director for Children of the Street Society.

Laila earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Ottawa and completed her Articles at Legal Aid Ontario. She was called to both the Ontario and British Columbia Bars in 2015. She is fluent in Urdu, Hindi and Punjabi. Her personal interests include travel, design, photography and foreign films.
